Blainville's Beaked Whales
Some species of smaller whales evolve in Mauritian waters.
The most commonly observed in the open sea are the Blainville's beaked whales.
They evolve in small pods between 6 and 12 individuals.
They can grow to an average size of 6-7 meters.
One of the identication caracter of the blainville's beaked whales are the long and curved tooth on each the side of the month making them looking like wild pigs.
They have small curved dorsal fins like those those of bottled nose dolphins
Big males have yellowish back with numerous fight marks over the body.
